The Berlin-based family business Becker & Kries renovated a 2,900 m² residential ensemble in Neukölln economically through the targeted use of subsidies. Purpose Green carried out the complete analysis, refurbishment planning and implementation, including the procurement of subsidies, resulting in energy savings of around 78%, a reduction in CO₂ emissions of around 60% and the use of around €269,000 in subsidies with socially acceptable rent increases.
The energy efficiency class of the building complex was significantly improved from G to B.
The project on Rotkehlchenweg required a good balance to reconcile economic refurbishment, rental yields at a social level and a continuously occupied portfolio. Over the course of two years, we worked intensively with Purpose Green through all the ups and downs of a project. We particularly appreciated the continuous support in all project phases: Whether it was energy consulting, subsidies or structural implementation, Purpose Green provided support with the right experts in every situation. Decisions were made pragmatically without losing sight of the overall economic objective. The fact that we received all services from a single source, including sensitive tenant communication, was a real advantage for us.

The long-established Berlin family business Becker & Kries was faced with the challenge of renovating a residential ensemble on the outskirts of Neukölln with several building blocks and a usable area of 2,900 m². The location in a district with restrained rental growth required a detailed coordination of packages of measures in order to harmonize the existing need for refurbishment with the economic and structural requirements.
Purpose Green developed a holistic approach, starting with a detailed ESG report including an on-site inspection and data collection. Based on this, a state-subsidized individual renovation roadmap (iSFP) was created, which described specific energy-related measures in a comprehensible form.
Particular attention was paid to counter-financing through state subsidy programs such as KfW and BAFA.
Implementation was based on the one-stop-shop principle, so that the client received all services from a single source, from analysis to planning and funding procurement to implementation.
Purpose Green's integrated 360° approach enabled the project to be implemented quickly and purposefully. The flow of information was maintained throughout, which led to efficient project implementation. The end result was a fully refurbished residential ensemble that met both economic and sustainability requirements.
