What does an energy consultation cost?
Energy consulting is very complex. For this reason, it is not possible to quote all-inclusive prices. The cost of an energy consultation basically depends on various factors.
These aspects in particular have a major influence on the cost of an energy consultation:
- Scopeof the consultation: Do you need a brief consultation, an on-site consultation in your property or a detailed refurbishment roadmap?
- Type of property: The requirements for commercial properties are usually higher than those for private projects.
- Qualification: Only qualified experts for energy efficiency can also apply for subsidies - in other words, they offer advice that goes beyond the standard.
- Region and provider: The cost of an energy consultation can vary depending on the federal state and institution.

Supporting subsidies and grants
You do not usually have to bear the full cost of an energy consultation yourself. There are subsidies and grants available for both private owners and companies.
Federal funding for energy consulting for residential buildings (EBW) from BAFA
This subsidy relates to the costs of an energy consultation including an individual refurbishment roadmap (iSFP).
Scope of funding:
- up to 50 % of the consulting costs
- Detached and semi-detached houses: maximum € 650
- Residential buildings with three or more residential units: maximum €850
- Communities of owners can receive an additional €250 if the report is presented at the owners' meeting.

The final cost of the energy consultation will depend on which services are required as a result or based on your individual questions.

- Advice on and application for subsidies,
- Preparation of an energy certificate,
- Analysis of thermographic images.

- Checking compliance with legal requirements (GEG and EPBD directives),

How do I find the right energy advice?
Choosing the right energy consultant is crucial to the success of the measures. You should therefore consider the following criteria when making your choice:
- Qualifications: Make sure that the consultant is certified as an energy consultant (e.g. by DENEFF or BAFA).
- Experience: Experience with projects similar to yours would be an advantage.
- Transparent costs: The consulting costs and scope of services should be communicated clearly and openly.
- Additional services: In addition to advice, some providers also offer support during the implementation of energy efficiency measures. This facilitates project management and enables cost synergies.
